Day 10 Tuesday June 25 – Lolo Pass to Lewiston Idaho
It was a wee bit chilly this morning, so it felt good to stay in bed for a while. Still got up before the sun came over the mountain. Thought I would paint a few pictures before we left, but it was so cold I got out my gloves and puffy jacket for warmth. Once the sun started rising, it warmed up quickly. I was the last to leave the campground. Guess I just really didn’t want to go.
As we headed west one of the first signs we saw said “winding road next 99 miles”. Boy and it wasn’t kidding. We went back and forth as we wound our way down the mountain.

At first we were
following the Lochsa River. We came to a
point where it said that there was rafting activity. The river was running fast, but there were
all kinds of rocks, big and small. You
would definitely need someone that knew the river to get you down it. The Selway River rain into the Lochsa and at
some point it turned into the Clearwater river.
We continued to follow it until we reached Lewiston Idaho and the Snake
River. We spent the night at the Lewis
and Clark State Park. It had been a hot
day, up to 95*. But once the sun went
down it sure cooled off quickly.
